Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 14, 2025
Overview
jBrowse is designed for privacy. We do not collect, store, share, or sell your personal data. All browsing data and any passwords you choose to save are stored locally on your device. The only exception is information you voluntarily include when you submit a bug report - see “Bug Reports” below.
Data We Do Not Collect
- No account is required.
- No analytics, tracking, or telemetry is collected.
- Outside of a bug report you choose to submit, no browsing history, search queries, or form data is transmitted to us.
- No passwords or credentials leave your device.
On‑Device Data
If you choose to save passwords, they are stored in the iOS Keychain with device‑only protection (not synced to iCloud by this app). You can manage or delete passwords at any time in the app.
Biometric Authentication
You can opt‑in to use Face ID or Touch ID to protect your saved passwords. This is optional and can be turned off in Settings at any time.
Bug Reports
Submitting a bug report is optional. When you do, the report is sent directly to IBC Partners (the developer of jBrowse) and is not shared with any third party. To help us diagnose the problem, a report includes diagnostic information such as the current web page address, recent navigation and log entries, and basic device and app details. It does not include your name or email unless you choose to add them in the form. Reports are used only to fix problems and improve the app.
The report is sent over a secure HTTPS connection to an endpoint on our own domain, and is not handled by any third-party form service. That endpoint runs on web hosting provided by Westhost, our hosting provider. Westhost stores and transmits the report on our behalf as a service provider, under its own terms; the contents are used only by us, to investigate the problem you reported, and are not passed to anyone else or used for advertising.
Third‑Party Sites
While jBrowse enhances privacy, websites you visit may have their own privacy policies. Please review those policies as applicable.
