jMail - your email, on your Mac.

Built for big mailboxes

If years of mail and attachments have made your inbox slow, jMail is designed for you: it stores your messages compressed in a local database, so enormous archives stay fast and compact.

• Multi-account IMAP & SMTP - Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo or any IMAP server, synced together in one unified inbox, with new Inbox mail shown within seconds 
• Guided account setup - jMail looks up your provider's mail servers from your address (or import a configuration profile), and walks you through Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo app passwords. Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and MSN mail aren't supported: Microsoft no longer lets mail apps sign in to it with a password
• Inbox tabs - Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums and Newsletters, using Gmail's own sorting for Gmail accounts; right-click a tab to mark it all read or delete it all
• Compressed local storage - message bodies are stored Zstandard-compressed in SQLite (on by default) to keep large archives small and quick. You choose how long jMail keeps the original copy of each message it downloads, attachments included - from 30 days to forever (the default)
• Natural-language search - just type "unread from alice with a pdf last month"; combine senders, dates, attachments, size and status, all matched locally. Save any search or filter as a Smart Folder in the sidebar
• Plain-English commands - type "delete emails from example.com older than 30 days" in the search field; jMail reads the command back to you in full and asks before anything is moved
• Voice search - dictate your search out loud, transcribed on-device - no audio ever leaves your Mac
• Full-text search - fast search of every word in your mailbox, in plain-text and HTML mail alike, and accent-insensitive: "numero" finds "número"
• Offline send queue - compose and queue mail (with attachments preserved) while offline; it sends when you reconnect, with an Undo Send window and scheduled send
• On-device spam filtering - Bayesian plus heuristic filtering that learns locally, with no message ever sent to a cloud filter
• Rules, signatures & blocked senders - organize and personalize mail automatically
• Bulk clean-up - delete thousands of messages at once, clear out the mail of contacts you choose, and reclaim database space from the toolbar

Privacy & security, on by default

jMail actively protects you while you read. Your mail is stored on your Mac and exchanged only with your own mail servers.

• Phishing & spoof detection - flags forged senders and credential-harvesting links with a clear warning banner (or moves them to a folder you choose), using weighted signals (SPF/DKIM/DMARC, look-alike domains, brand impersonation). On Macs with Apple Intelligence, borderline messages can get a second, on-device opinion
• Ad & tracker blocking - Standard or Strict modes block known ad and analytics domains as messages render; Strict also hides leftover ad blocks
• Tracking-pixel stripping - hidden and 1x1 "open tracking" pixels are removed (on by default), even when you show a message's images
• Link tracking removal - utm_* and click-ID parameters are stripped from links (on by default)
• Link safety (optional) - checks the sites that links point to against Quad9's threat-blocking DNS - when you click a link, open a message or new mail arrives - and can scan all your mail at once. It's off until you turn it on, because it sends a link's site name (never your message) to Quad9
• Encrypted connections - mail is sent over TLS on every port, and read over TLS on IMAP ports 993 and 143 (on 143 via STARTTLS). On these connections your mail server's certificate must be trusted by macOS and match the server's name, or jMail won't connect. On any other IMAP port, jMail connects without encryption
• Ad scan & privacy stats - scan your mailbox for tracker-heavy messages and see what jMail has blocked
• On-device & sandboxed - no telemetry, no cloud scanning of your messages, and no message text or audio sent to Apple or anyone else

Only when you use them, a few features talk to other servers: Link safety sends a link's site name to Quad9; account setup asks your mail domain's own configuration server (which can receive your address) and a public directory of mail server settings (which receives only the domain); an event's location is sent to Apple's map service for place suggestions and a small map (never an email address); calendar sync goes through your Mac's Calendar, or the Google or Microsoft account you connect under Advanced; Unsubscribe contacts the sender's unsubscribe address; a read receipt goes to the sender only if you choose to send one; and Report a Bug sends the report you review to IBC Partners. Like any mail app, jMail loads the images senders host on the web - with known trackers blocked and tracking pixels removed - and you can turn off Load remote images automatically in Settings.

Requirements

A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 or later, and IMAP mail accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and MSN mail isn't supported). The Apple Intelligence features need a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on.
